January 25, 1924 - December 23, 2020
Elaine Lucille (Prince) Stovee, 96, died on December 23, 2020, after a brief battle with Covid-19. Elaine was born in Long Beach, California, on January 25, 1924, to Roy L. and Lois (Parks) Prince. She and Bob (Robert H.) Stovee married on March 17, 1946, at Normandy Wedding Chapel in Long Beach. At the time of her beloved husband’s death in 2009, they had been married almost 63 years. She was also preceded in death by her older brother Edward J. Prince and younger brother Wendell E. Prince. She lived her entire life in Long Beach and Seal Beach. Elaine enjoyed traveling with Bob, especially to Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe, and Hawaii, and on numerous cruises; entertaining family and friends at home; reading biographies; and working crossword puzzles. She played the violin through her school years, and met her future husband in high school. After attending Long Beach Secretarial School, she spent her career working as a top-notch executive secretary with Certified Grocers of California for 30 years. Elaine will be dearly missed by her niece Janette (Prince) Collins and husband Mike, her nephew Dan Prince and wife Emily, and her treasured friend Jasmine Jackson. She will also be remembered fondly by her great nieces Jenn Collins and Bridget Collins and her great nephews Matthew Collins, Walter Prince, and Rory Prince. The family is grateful to the staff at Sunrise Seal Beach and Orange Coast Medical Center for their care for Elaine and for their tireless efforts throughout the pandemic. Farewell services will be private. Her care has been entrusted to Green Hills Mortuary and she will rest with her dear husband Bob in the Garden of Prayer at Green Hills Memorial Park, Rancho Palos Verdes, California. A gift in memory of Elaine would be most welcomed by Stuart’s Opera House, 52 Public Square, Nelsonville, OH 45764, or charity of choice.
