Francesca Kostrencich

May 23, 1958 - June 21, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our sister Francesca "Fran" Gina Kostrencich. She died peacefully with family at her bedside on June 21, 2021. Fran was born May 23, 1958 in San Pedro to parents Frank and Irene (Ursich) Kostrencich. She attended 7th Street School, Dana Jr. High and San Pedro High School, Class of '75. Following high school, Fran attended L.A. Harbor College and graduated with an AA degree in Nursing in 1979. She was immediately recruited by Little Company of Mary Torrance. She worked on the Medical Oncology Unit. She became an Oncology Certified Nurse in 1984. She continued her education at the University of Phoenix and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1989. Fran was recognized in "Who's Who in American Nursing" in the 1990-91 Edition. As an Oncology nurse, Fran became close friends with many patients and their families. She was Godmother to several of the patient's children and /or grandchildren. In the mid 1990's, Fran left bedside nursing. She became a Senior Computer Analyst. She was instrumental in developing and implementing the paper nursing forms to computer screens for Little Company of Mary Torrance and San Pedro. Fran retired from Little Company of Mary Torrance in 2016. Fran was an avid reader and a big time Laker/Kobe Bryant fan. Fran was generous and kind. She always had a smile on her face and was always willing to help and to teach. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and peers. Fran was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by sisters: Teri (Fred) Sardisco, Suzanne (Frank) Kunich, brother: Frank (Karen) Kostrencich; nephews and nieces: Frank (Zora) Kunich, Fred (Laura) Sardisco, Matt (Nicole) Sardisco, Nicole (Anthony) Druskovich, Annelise, McKenna, Hallie and Addison Kostrencich; great nephew and nieces: Nika, Gia Isla, Marko, Mila, Alexandra and Angelina. Services will be held Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at 11:30 at Green Hills Chapel. Burial to follow.
