John Barnabas Scholz passed away peacefully at home on January 29th, 2022, at the age of 87, with his brother by his side. He was born on April 25th, 1934 to Barney Scholz and Wilhelmina Ubelein in Schenectady, New York. He was adopted by his mom's second husband, Joseph Scholz. He went into the Air Force at Stewart National Military Base after high school, where he became an F-86 jet mechanic in 1954. He met Merle at a dance, got married in the courthouse in 1956, and they had a child, Lawrence Scholz, in 1960, and moved to Sacramento, California. From 1965 - 1979, he was employed by Fairchild Aeronautics - as the key mechanic of quality control for government satellites in Redondo Beach, and purchased a nice house in Long Beach in 1980. When he retired, his hobbies were refurbishing bicycles, gardening and quality control of his wife's cuisine. John is survived by his brother, Joseph Scholz and his sister, Diane Arvay. He is pre-deceased by his wife, Merle Scholz, in 2019, and his son, Lawrence Scholz, in 1994.. He will join them at the Green Hills Mortuary, located in Palos Verdes, CA.
