Sara Cortez

December 7, 1929 - April 7, 2022

Sara passed away peacefully on April 7, 2022 in Long Beach, California at the age of 92. She was born December 7, 1929 in Calipatria, California to Tiburcio and Guillerma Martinez. Sara is survived by her daughters Rose (Francisco) Duarte, Lacinda (Francisco) Viloria; Grandchildren Andrew (Denise) Nunez, Matthew Nunez, Leann Nunez, Angel Duarte and Alana Duarte; Great Granddaughters Amaya Nunez, Zariyah Nunez, Melina Nunez and Lyla Jacquez and Sister Josie Cruz along with many nephews and nieces. Sara is preceded in death by her Husband Felix Cortez, Mother Guillerma Sanchez, Brother Henry Martinez and Sister Jennie Hernandez. Sara worked at the canneries in Terminal Island. She later worked as a Teachers Aide for over 20 years and worked at Queen Anne Elementary in Los Angeles, Dorris Place Elementary in Los Angeles and Barton Hill Elementary in San Pedro where she retired from.
